On Saturday October 21st , seven of our teens joined forces with other teens on the shoreline to clean & organize our food pantry. This was part of a Give2 event, which is a part of the Connecticut UCC teen ministry.

Teen Mission Trip

Our 2017 mission trip was to Washington D.C. The teens worked alongside members of the community in food pantries, soup kitchens, tent cities, children's organizations, and in various parks. They made friends with teens from Maine, Wisconsin, and New Jesrsey while learning about the social justice issues our capital faces such as poverty, racism, and gentrification.

Earth Day Clean Up

First church teens join youth from 3 other churches to clean up Hammonasset Beach on Earth Day.

4th Annual Sing-Off

Two talented UCONN vocal groups travelled to Old Saybrook to provide an evening of a cappella style music. It was a toe tapping, hand clapping, family friendly night. The groups also put on a singing worshop for teens prior to the concert.

All the money raised is used to help send our teens to participate in a Youth Works Mission Trip. Youth Works is an organization that has provided life-changing Christ centered mission trips for over 30,000 students and adult leaders.  This year the teens will be travelling to Washington,D.C.

Homeless Awareness Event

First Church teens joined Deep River Congregational teens in an event to bring awareness to the homeless epidemic. Our teens met and heard stories from individuals who had experienced homelessness. A question and answer period followed by small group discussion engaged our young people in becoming advocates. Teens spent the night outside in cardboard boxes to experience and try to imagine what it would feel like to be homeless.
